This CaddySack Golf Course Review was provided by Jerry Neff (@neff.jerry)
Eagle Springs Golf & Country Club (ESG&CC) is a golfer’s dream. ESG&CC is located in Fresno, California, directly across the road from Table Mountain Casino & Resort, owners of the course. It is nestled in the rolling foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range 112 miles south of Yosemite National Park and 10 miles North of Fresno, CA.
Senic Splendor
The sprawling foothill course is decorated with magnificent homes well off the fairways, huge oaks and pines as well as lakes & granite outcroppings. Golfers can expect drops and elevations throughout this challenging foothill course. Take the time to smell the roses, so to speak, you’ll see and hear various birds e.g. crows, wood peckers and birds of prey as well as coyotes, squirrels and ground squirrels as you make your way around the course. Several tee boxes are elevated on the higher foothill locations providing broad and expansive views.
Course Design
Signature Golf Course Johnny Miller Design
Since its inception, Eagle Ridge has stood as a testament to the vision of PGA Tour winner and globally acclaimed golf course designer Johnny Miller. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, Miller personally oversaw the creation of every element of the course, ensuring it would stand shoulder to shoulder with the world's most prestigious golfing destinations.
We golfed with four foursomes on an overcast and foggy day which is typical of the Central San Joaquin Valley winter weather. The fog rose enough to not hinder shot views. The greens are what I’d call huge, thus, getting on a green doesn’t necessarily mean a two putt. Also, being Johnny Miller designed most greens have at least two tiers providing great entertainment and frustration. On the #1 handicap hole #6, an uphill par four, my ball was laying just off the green on a steep gradation. As I approached my ball a large crow landed nearby, picked up my ball and flew to a nearby tree. That’s golf…
Course Conditions
The course is kept in excellent condition. This time of the year, the rough is mowed down easing the strain of errant shots. The rough is tall weeds which will eat any errant shot. However, in the winter months, the carpets of Bermuda grass go dormant e.g. turn yellow/brown but the ball still rolls out very well. The greens are always in excellent condition.
Customer Service
The staff are upbeat and willing to help you with whatever you need.
Amenities
The clubhouse, adjacent to the practice putting green, houses both the pro-shop and restaurant. Across the street is Table Mountain Casino and Resort which has a hotel, restaurants, gaming etc.
Value for Money
I’d rate value for the money as money well spent considering the course is a Golf & Country Club!
